Researchers at Temple University are looking for families who drink water from a private well for a paid study. They are interested in keeping children safe from illnesses that can be spread by drinking water from private wells. Families will receive a free whole-home UV water treatment system (value of device + installation = $1,000). Families can participate from home. To be part of this NIH-funded study, families must have a child under the age of four and live in select Pennsylvania and New Jersey counties.

Press Release from the Office of Oldmans Township Mayor Murphy

On October 9, 2024 at its regularly scheduled township meeting the Oldmans Township Committee suspended the Auburn Volunteer Fire Company.  This action was taken after an executive session with the Auburn Fire Chief at the September 18, 2024 Township meeting.  The Township Committee feels this action was necessary as a result of a significant lack of good judgement by the Auburn Chief.  On August 29th, 2024 the Chief dispatched the Auburn fire truck to a motor vehicle fatality with insufficient number of fireman, which included a 14 year old boy that had just started with the Company 15 days prior to the incident.   This violates national fire protocol.  Bringing and then keeping a 14-year-old child at a motor vehicle fatality that ultimately became a crime scene was against township, state and federal regulations.   This decision by the Auburn Chief needs to be investigated further along with other issues that have been brought to the attention of the Committee.  The Committee is concerned that if this poor lack of judgement is not addressed appropriately it could happen again putting the mental and physical wellbeing of a child in danger.   This matter will be further discussed at the Township meeting in November.  Safety is the most important concern for the Township, not only for the residents but for those that volunteer for the Fire Companies.  Any suggestion that this decision was done for any other reason other than for safety is false.
